Ok, I watched the debates, and I thought Kerry did really well. It’s not like he had much competition, the Daily Show said it best, …a retarded man held his own tonight, against a sitting senator….
The most I got out of Bush’s remarks is this: 1) his job is hard, 2) he doesn’t think John Kerry can do his job, and 3) his job is hard. I’ll agree with points 1 & 3, but maybe you should be on vacation less, and in Washington more.
However, I think Kerry missed some opportunity to put the knife in and twist it, which he failed to follow through on. I would have liked to had an overview of his plan for Iraq. The people need to know why your plan is better than, as you put it, more of the same. I agree we don’t need more of the same, but you need to tell those still unsure what you will do better. I also think he didn’t push the point well enough of why he now thinks the war is a mistake, however I think he made this point a bit clearer than in the past. 1) He agrees Saddam was a threat, BUT he doesn’t agree about how we went in. 2) He says he was mislead when he voted for authority, citing the list of conditions the president promised to meet, but failed to do so.
Anyway, I’m sure the white-house spin machine is churning away, but they are going to have to overcome one big problem Bush caused, he was visibly aggravated and came close to snapping at Kerry a few times. He had the attitude of “As if this guy has the right to question my decisions! I’m the president! He tried to kill my daddy! That’s why we went in motherfucker!”. Of course, that is totally my opinion of what he really wanted to say. ;P
