I hate my bank

I know I’ve never mentioned this here, but I absolutely loath my bank, 5/3. Today they denied a deposit because their little check machine in who knows where read the routing numbers on my check from my employer’s Health Spending Account wrong. Not only do they remove the money that I deposited Tuesday, they charge me $10 for this fee. Then they tell me I have to contact the people who cut me the check.

Fine.

I do that, I call the people that cut me the check. They inform me they have issued over 5,000 of these checks this year with no problems. The problem must be with 5/3 they said. Fine. So they attempt to call 5/3 and resolve this for me, but are unsuccessful. They return my call and leave me the information that basically they can cut me a new check and void the old one, but they aren’t going to do anything about the $10 charge as that is 5/3’s fault and I should call them at the customer service number and attempt to speak to deposit services.

Ok. I call 5/3 and talk to the nice little girl that answers the 800 line and ask for “deposit services”. She has to look that number up and then transfers me after I explain the situation. Deposit services then informs me they don’t speak directly to customers, only to banking center managers. I again explain the whole situation to this person, even though I already know she can’t do jack shit to fix my situation, hoping maybe she can transfer me back to some Uber Customer Service Rep since my banking center always acts like they don’t want to deal with me because I’m a young person. Anyway, after about 20 minutes of getting no where with her she basically tells me to go back to the bank and ask that they refund the charge, and if they won’t I’m basically stuck.

So, I go driving back across town, all worked up and ready to show my ass if I get the chance in the main office. I go in, expecting them to not refund my $10 since earlier today they told me they wouldn’t. The girl basically says, “We don’t normally do this, but since you have such a good relationship with us we will.”

Damn. I don’t get to show my ass saying you all just lost all of my current and future business. I don’t get to go off on how asanine this $10 charge is for something that isn’t my fault. I also don’t get to go off on no one attempting to verify that the number the check machine read wrong was indeed damaged or different from what is printed on the check face.

So I’m basically going to go tomorrow and see about opening an account at a locally owned bank. At least if they screw up I can go in and probably yell at the idiot who screwed up instead of talking to 10 different people in 10 different locations, none of whom can help me even if they wanted to because I wasn’t supposed to be transfered to them in the first place.
